Ninja Camp '09

Ninja Camp this year was awesome! I drove with Anna up and we had a blast. We got there and Sensei wasn't there so I told the kids that were there to go get firewood while Anna and I put up out tent. Its great being a blackbelt. =)
After that, I set up my slackline. One would think it is easy to put up a slackline in the mountains with all the trees there, but it is really difficult, there are too many trees!! We finally got it up and Sensei arrived so at about 5pm, we began to battle. There were a few good battles and we did capture the president, but overall, there were too many young kids for it to be great. Usually its just adults, so I don't know what happened. Ty told me he would hit me with a star, but never succeeded. Maybe next year. ;)
We told stories around the camp fire and like usual, Sensei Jed told his riddles. They are very hard, but I figured them out after like an hour of thought. I love campfires because there is always the weird bond with the people around them. To me, its magical.
The next morning, I taught a bunch of little kids how to slackline!! It was grand because many of them got really excited and wanted to keep practicing. They battled a few times and before I knew it, ninja camp was over! I love that part of my year and it is usually the highlight of my summer. As I wrote in my college essay, karate is a passion of mine, and so are the people I meet along the way. I can't wait to come back from college next year and get to battle again! =)
