Cleaning up Denver

Sorry for the delay of this blog again.
In about April, I went with K-Life to downtown Denver around the 5-points area (which is a drug area) to rebuild and help out some families whose houses have gotten out of control. We did 3 houses which was great. There were about 20 of us. Rat and Taylor went out the week before and went door to door on the block and asked the families what we could do for the outside of their house. Only 3 were willing to let us help, but we were happy to do that. One house, we scraped paint, repainted, washed the windows, and cleaned up the yard; in the end, it looked amazing and much much better than it had been. While we were cleaning the windows, a little girl would look out and peek at us the, hid behind the curtain again. It was so cute and really made the work more personal to a family. I was happy to help. The second house all the guys + Kate did. It was all yard work and they took a yard that was cracked dirt, and turned it into a beautiful landscape by putting in grass, some bushes, and lots of mulch. By the end, it was amazing and a dramatic change. The third house was hard. We scraped, repainted, and cleaned the part of the house that was visible from the street which was about half of it. Poor Rat was on that tall ladder painting forever. It was fun though because when Emily and Caroline came, at almost the end, Kyndra was painting the roof of a overhang and we went to move the ladder without taking the paint off and it spilled all over the Kelley's. So funny but bad too. I vacuumed the lawn with a car vac to pick up all the paint chips we dropped. It was an interesting job. I loved helping out and was so glad to do it. It reminded me of Habitat but instead of building, I was fixing. It was a great experience.
