Operation Christmas Child

Tonight I went to a warehouse out by the airport with a big church group to work for Operation Chirstmas Child. I walked in and there were thousands of big boxes everywhere, and people working on lines to make the boxes- it reminded me of Santa's elves making toys for kids. We got an overview about what is good in a box and what is bad, then we were assigned jobs. I was to take the shoe boxes out of the big boxes and open them, take out the money, and pass them along. I worked for a few hours doing this, and got so much done. Throughout the night, all the assembly lines got so much accomplished, it made me proud to be a part of it. All the children we are helping by simply loning a few hours of our time. They had a few hundred thousand shoe boxes for children, and its not over. People will continue to work for hours to make more and get this done, but it is so incredible. One girl got up and talked about how one of these shoe boxes helped her when she was in an orphanage in Russia. Now that she is out of that mess, she gets to help and give back. I'm glad that there are organizations like this to help out the needy because it is so important. Getting a chance to help out is more than I could ask for. What a great night.
